Private W. Thomas

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

W. Thomas enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Omagh on 24 July 1917 (No.2624 – later Corps of Hussars No.71917). He was described as being 5' 3¼" tall, with a pale complexion, fair hair and grey eyes. He stated that he was 26 years old, was born in Roscommon, and worked as a farm labourer.

He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 2 February 1918. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
